TIMESASIANews.com | To enhance the stability and growth of the relationship, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi asked Japan to direct bilateral relations from a strategic perspective, on Sunday (25/12/2022).
Last November, the two countries agreed and agreed on the increase.

Wang said in his online speech at the Beijing symposium. He said it was important for the two Asian neighbors “to avoid setbacks and failures, to be far-sighted and foresight” in their relations after China and Japan marked the 50th anniversary of the normalization of bilateral relations in September.

On the United States, Wang said Beijing has resolutely rejected “Washington’s erroneous policies on China”, where the US “stubbornly continues to view China as its main competitor and engages in blockade, suppression, and blatant provocations”.

Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated the question of Taiwan is “the core of China’s ultimate interests” and a “red line that must not be crossed” in China-US relations.

In response to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan in August, despite China’s “severe warnings”, Beijing has taken “firm and clear steps” and “strictly deterred anti-China elements in the United States and attempts to force ‘Taiwan independence’,” Wang said.

China, which views Taiwan as its own, is holding large-scale military exercises near the island and halting cooperation with Washington in various fields, including climate change and defense cooperation.

“These steps fully demonstrate our strong will in safeguarding national sovereignty and security,” Wang said.

In a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in November in Bali, Indonesia, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden agreed to manage differences effectively and advance practical cooperation.

Therefore, Wang urged Washington to “cultivate a favorable atmosphere for the two countries’ communication and cooperation.”

Referring to China’s massive easing of “zero-COVID” policies in early December, Wang said it had “brought a new stage in the pandemic response” and indicated the country would relax its strict border controls.

“We consider it necessary to further facilitate the inflow and outflow of citizens between China and other countries,” he said. (rep/tans)
