Petronas Oil Refinery Burns and Explodes in Johor Malaysia

TIMESASIANews | Malaysia – It was reported that an oil refinery owned by Petronas in Johor, Malaysia, caught fire. This incident was also followed by an explosion at the giant oil refinery belonging to the Malaysian kingdom. Thursday (27/10/2022).

Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation (PRPC) confirmed the incident that occurred at 15.40 LT (local time) in one of the interconnecting pipelines located at Pengerang Integrated Complex, Malaysia.

The company’s emergency response team was immediately dispatched to deal with the increasing number of fire and explosion incidents. In addition, all relevant authorities have reportedly been notified by Petronas.

“The fire was completely extinguished at 4:50 pm. No casualties were reported and the incident did not pose an immediate threat to the surrounding community,” wrote a Petronas statement, quoted from CNA, Friday (28/10/2022).

The video of the Petronas oil refinery fire has also gone viral on social media, to be precise on the Johor United Nations Facebook group page.

In the video, thick black smoke can be seen billowing from the scene. Meanwhile, uniformed workers ran for safety.
