The supervision operation of illegal excisable goods (BKC), especially illegal cigarettes, is carried out simultaneously by all Customs vertical units in a certain period of time and is carried out in an integrated manner in the production and marketing areas.

Head of the Sub-Directorate of Public Relations and Customs Counseling, Encep Dudi Ginanjar, on Wednesday (July 10) said that Operation Gempur 2024 is a form of the government’s commitment to eradicate illegal cigarettes.

“Operation Gempur is a manifestation of the commitment of the government, especially Customs and other related parties in carrying out community protection functions through preventive and repressive efforts to eradicate the circulation of illegal cigarettes to protect the community and create a level playing field for the industry,” he said, quoting Republika. Wednesday (July 10, 2024).

Operation Gempur is also an effort to intensify the illegal cigarette surveillance operations that have been routinely carried out by this agency throughout the year.

Previously, in 2023, Operation Gempur resulted in 8,813 illegal cigarette crackdowns or reached 44.4 percent of the total national Customs enforcement. The value of goods resulting from the enforcement in 2023 was recorded at 253.7 million illegal cigarettes, or providing an achievement of 35.8 percent of the total number of goods resulting from national actions.

For this achievement, Encep expressed his appreciation to all business actors in the excise sector who have complied with the rules, so that state revenue in the excise sector remains optimal. He also appealed to the public to support the implementation of Operation Gempur 2024.
